Ageing


I believe that though many cigar makers are actually making an exceptional cigar, few are taking the time to age the cigars properly, this is due mainly to demand and economic restraints, the cigars need to be sold and production turned over to increase the bottom line. As a boutique cigar maker, I decided to take the time to slowly age my cigars………

I had a number of airtight one inch thick pure royal cedar trunks made, which can hold up to 3000 cigars.

I decided to make an experiment in order to prove my point. First January, 2009, I took 18000 robustos fresh off the roller bench and placed 1/3 of them in two cedar trunks; 1/3 I left aging in the factory ageing room and 1/3 I placed in two other trunks and added 15 year aged Dominican Rum “El Dorado”.

In six months I will do a tasting (if you would like to be part of the panel please leave a comment or buy a tasting pack) so that we can observe the difference in aroma of the 3 cigars.

I predict that the results will show that the cigars aged in the cedar trunk will be more rounded and the cedar will actually increase the aging cycle making them at least a notch better than the regularly aged cigars. The ones aged in rum will be infused with aroma and sweetness of the rum.

I have 5 Big Cedar Trunks and 2 small ones,
Im aging 6000 cigars with Rum & 6000 cigars without
I will have 6 Tasting, one at the end of each month, the First tasting will be March, 31
